Sheik Alhaji Mohamed Kamara, a prominent philanthropist and politician, expressed his strong support and solidarity for the democratically elected Members of Parliament (MPs) of the main opposition All Peoples’ Congress Party (APC) by donating 500 million Leones to the party’s leadership. The donation, made through his ‘Jagaban’ foundation, was presented in the form of a check and in cash at the APC party headquarters in Brookfields, Freetown on August 22, 2023.
The event was attended by the party’s leadership, elected MPs, Mayors, members, and supporters who witnessed this generous act. Sheik Alhaji Mohamed Kamara’s donation is aimed at showing love and support to the elected APC MPs, Councilors, Mayors, and party members to enable them to continue their good work following the controversial outcome of the June 24, 2023 elections.
In a heartfelt letter to the APC party, Sheik Alhaji Mohamed Kamara expressed his unwavering support and deep appreciation for the hard work and sacrifices of the democratically elected APC lawmakers. He emphasized that the 500 million Leones is intended to support and acknowledge the efforts of the elected MPs, Mayors, and Councilors as they tirelessly represent the interests of the APC party, constituents, and the nation as a whole.
Sheik Alhaji Mohamed Kamara stressed the importance of recognizing the dedication and commitment displayed by the elected APC MPs, Mayors, and Councilors and providing them with the necessary resources to continue their efforts in upholding democracy and fair elections in Sierra Leone.
