KONO DISTRICT, Sierra Leone — 21 September 2026

The leading All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant, Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, widely known as Jagaban, visited Kono District on Sunday, 20 September 2026, and delivered a wide range of development items and logistics to strengthen grassroots party structures and improve local community infrastructure.

The donation package featured 100 solar-powered streetlights, distributed at 10 units per constituency across the district’s nine constituencies, with an additional 10 units dedicated to local learning institutions. To enhance youth mobility and coordination, Jagaban provided nine motorbikes for the respective Constituency Youth Leaders. The support package also included 32 ceiling fans, five indoor air-conditioning units, and a complete commercial public-address system.

A central objective of the working visit was to assess the ongoing APC Kono District Office construction project along Yardu Road in Gbense Chiefdom. Accompanied by local officials, Jagaban conducted a detailed inspection of the facility to assess structural progress and evaluate the remaining resource requirements needed to fast-track its full completion.

Former Kono District APC Chairman Raymond Kai Gbekie welcomed the initiative, expressing profound gratitude to Jagaban for his sustained interventions across Sierra Leone. He highlighted that such grassroots investments continue to revitalize party operations, motivate local executives, and deliver tangible benefits to communities across different regions.

Addressing party executives, stakeholders, and supporters during the presentation ceremony, Jagaban commended the people of Kono for their resilience and steadfast loyalty to the APC. He offered special appreciation to project contractor Eng. Ibrahim Suma for driving construction works, alongside the women of Kono District for their vital contributions to community mobilization.

Speaking on his connection to the district, Jagaban noted that while critics may question his geographic roots, he considers himself a devoted son of the South-East region. He stressed that the socio-economic challenges confronting local communities are shared national priorities, reaffirming his pledge to invest in sustainable party capacity and broader national development without viewing his efforts as a competition with anyone.

The donated items were formally handed over to Raymond Kai Gbekie and Eng. Ibrahim Suma to oversee deployment and installation across the nine constituencies. Following the handover, Eng. Suma conducted a guided tour of the facility, outlining structural milestones and identifying specific finishing works requiring acceleration.

The event concluded with an official vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Melvin Comba Alieu Concuwa, who commended Jagaban’s leadership, his investment in the Kono District APC headquarters, and his continued support for community development across the country.
