The Leading Flagbearer Aspirant of the All People’s Congress (APC) Party, Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, has responded to key development concerns raised by residents of Mayenkineh with a package of interventions including Le50 million, 100 bags of cement, one ton of iron rods, Le10 million for a rehabilitation centre, and 25 solar streetlights.
Jagaban made the commitments during his visit to the Mayenkineh Community in the eastern part of Freetown on August 22, 2026, where he engaged residents, community leaders, religious leaders, APC supporters, and other stakeholders.
The engagement focused on challenges affecting the community, particularly poor road conditions and inadequate lighting.
Community stakeholder Chief Pa Alimamy Mohamed Bangura highlighted the poor state of the roads, explaining that the situation makes transportation difficult and risky, particularly for pregnant women who sometimes have to rely on motorbikes.
He also raised security concerns, noting that darkness in some areas has contributed to theft and created difficulties for students who study in the evening. He appealed for solar streetlights to improve safety.
Responding to the concerns, Jagaban pledged 25 solar streetlights for Mayenkineh.
He also donated 100 bags of cement, one ton of iron rods, and Le50 million toward the community road construction project. In addition, he announced Le10 million for the rehabilitation centre and pledged to replace all the chairs in the church that were stolen.
APC Constituency 112 Chairman, Mr. Gibrill O. Tarawalia, popularly known as Chairman Gibo, who attended with ward executives from Wards 399, 401 and 409, said Jagaban’s interventions demonstrate a willingness to translate commitments into practical action.
Mr. Joseph Hafiz-Koroma, representing the Mayenkineh Community road project, noted that the support would contribute to the ongoing effort to improve the community road and encouraged continued attention to the project.
Religious leaders also highlighted Jagaban’s emphasis on peace and national unity. Sheikh Gibrill Kamara, representing the Muslim community, commended his efforts to promote peaceful coexistence, while Madam Jatu, representing Christians, urged APC delegates to consider his leadership credentials ahead of the National Delegates Convention.
Chairman Bangura of the Jagaban Fan Base Organization said grassroots supporters continue to rally behind Jagaban, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the APC to State House in the 2028 elections.
In his remarks, Jagaban said personally witnessing the poor road conditions had given him a clearer understanding of the challenges facing Mayenkineh.
He called on Sierra Leoneans to place national and community interests above political differences and to promote peace, unity, love, and development.
Jagaban said his vision is centred on improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans, particularly young people, women, children, and businesspeople. He also reiterated his ambition to lead the APC to State House and pledged, by the grace of Almighty God, to work toward addressing challenges affecting communities across the country.
The Mayenkineh intervention forms part of Jagaban’s broader grassroots development and humanitarian initiatives.
The programme concluded with prayers and remarks from community representatives, religious leaders, APC executives, supporters, and other stakeholders.
