Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, widely known as Jagaban, made a rousing appearance at the All People’s Congress (APC) National Young Congress Retreat on Friday, May 31 in the Southern city of Bo.
His arrival sparked an outpouring of excitement, with hundreds of energised youth taking to the streets clad in the party’s signature red and white colours.
Chanting slogans like “Mu Fay Jagaban Weh” in Mende (meaning let’s make Jagaban [the APC Presidential candidate), the crowd celebrated Jagaban’s presence fervently, turning parts of the city into a vibrant sea of political enthusiasm and youthful solidarity.
His visit ]went beyond symbolic significance, it reignited hope and unity among Sierra Leone’s young generation, many of whom see him as a beacon of future leadership within the APC and the nation at large. The event marked a key moment for the party’s youth wing, as calls for a revitalised and inclusive political direction echoed throughout the day.
Observers say the electrifying reception in Bo is a clear signal of Jagaban’s growing influence and the momentum building ahead of Sierra Leone’s next political chapter.
The APC, Sierra Leone’s main opposition, has several top members vying for the party’s presidential seat ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Kamara, who has made his intention clear to run as a presidential candidate under the party, faces stiff competition from former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara and former leader of the APC party in parliament, Chernor Maju Bah among others.
