MOHAMED OMODU KAMARA: JAGABAN

A Triumvirate of Business, Politics, And Philanthropy

Mohamed Omodu Kamara (Jagaban)

Entrepreneur • Philanthropist • Community Leader

Mohamed Omodu Kamara, widely known as Jagaban, is a Sierra Leonean entrepreneur, philanthropist, and emerging national leader whose public life is defined by service, impact, and people-centered leadership.

Born in Blama, Small Bo Chiefdom, to Mr. and Mrs. Kamara of Temne heritage, with ancestral roots in Marakulay and Makoni villages, Jagaban’s upbringing instilled in him strong values of hard work, humility, community responsibility, and unity, principles that continue to guide his leadership journey.

Early Life & Values

Growing up within close-knit communities, Jagaban experienced firsthand the challenges faced by ordinary Sierra Leoneans limited access to opportunity, economic hardship, and the importance of collective support. These early experiences shaped his belief that true leadership is measured not by position, but by impact on people’s lives.

From an early age, he demonstrated a natural inclination toward problem-solving, enterprise, and community support, traits that later defined his path as both a businessman and a public servant.

Entrepreneurship & Economic Impact

Jagaban is a successful entrepreneur with a strong track record of building sustainable enterprises and creating jobs. He is the Founder of Our Care Inc., an organization that has grown to employ over 350 people, providing livelihoods and professional opportunities across its operations.

His business philosophy centers on:

  • Value creation

  • Employment generation

  • Ethical leadership

  • Long-term sustainability

For Jagaban, entrepreneurship is not only about profit, it is about empowering people and strengthening communities.

Philanthropy & Community Service

Beyond business, Jagaban is widely respected for his hands-on philanthropy and community interventions across Sierra Leone. His support spans:

  • Education assistance

  • Youth empowerment

  • Health and social support

  • Community development initiatives

One of his flagship social interventions is J-IMPACT, a women-focused economic empowerment initiative that provides access to loans and financial support for women entrepreneurs, enabling them to expand their businesses, support their families, and achieve financial independence.

Through J-IMPACT and other initiatives, Jagaban has consistently emphasized empowerment over dependency, believing that sustainable progress comes from giving people the tools to succeed.

Entry into Active Politics

In 2020, Jagaban made a deliberate decision to enter active politics, driven by a singular purpose:
to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of Sierra Leoneans.

His entry into politics was not motivated by ambition, but by conviction, the belief that leadership must translate into tangible improvements in people’s daily lives. Since then, he has emerged as a unifying figure, engaging communities across districts and the diaspora with a message of service, unity, and national renewal.

Leadership Philosophy

Jagaban’s leadership is anchored on four core principles:

  • Service to the People

  • Unity for the Nation

  • Integrity and Accountability

  • Action over rhetoric

He believes that Sierra Leone’s future lies in inclusive leadership, where women, youth, traditional leaders, professionals, and grassroots communities all have a voice in shaping the nation.

Vision for Sierra Leone

Jagaban envisions a Sierra Leone where:

  • Economic opportunity is accessible to all

  • Women and youth are empowered to lead

  • Communities are strengthened from the grassroots

  • Leadership is accountable, compassionate, and people-centered

His journey continues to be one of service, listening, and action, guided by a deep commitment to national unity and sustainable development.
